1. Islay Marathon

Bruichladdich, Argyllshire, 1 September

This road marathon takes you on an unforgettable journey across much of the island’s length, giving you a true sense of its character. While the course is refreshingly free of steep climbs, the scenery delivers plenty of drama – wild coastlines, rolling moorland, and of course, the knowledge that you’re running in one of Scotland’s most famous whisky-making regions. 2. Windsor Half Marathon

Windsor, Berkshire, 29 September

Set within the sweeping landscapes of Windsor Great Park, this half marathon offers runners a chance to soak up both nature and history. The route takes you past impressive landmarks – from equestrian statues of monarchs to striking buildings with centuries of royal connections. While the sights provide excellent distraction, you’ll still need to dig deep, as the course has its fair share of rolling hills. A regal challenge with plenty to keep you motivated.

Fast, flat, and fuss-free – the Vale of York races are designed with PB-chasers in mind. Both the half marathon and 10K take place on quiet country roads, where the only distractions are the surrounding farmland and big skies. It’s a no-frills kind of event, but that’s part of the appeal – just you, the road, and the chance to see how fast you can really go.
